Thomas Harman, was inspired to start Balsam Hill by a family member who was allergic to live trees but wanted to create a festive atmosphere in his home during the holidays. When Thomas' search for a lifelike artificial Christmas tree came up empty-handed, the company was born to develop the most realistic and luxurious artificial trees. To accomplish this Balsam Hill designers craft trees to mimic nature using site visits and cuttings from live trees as their guides. The company opened for business online in October of 2006 by offering three collections. In 2007, Balsam Hill’s 7.5-foot Balsam Fir was named “Best Overall” artificial Christmas tree by Good Housekeeping Research Institute. Overall, Balsam Hill Reviews are positive, especially for their lifelike artificial trees. Balsam Hill is owned by Balsam Brands which earned revenues of $34.7 million in 2012. They have opened a showroom in Burlingame California.
