Zipline develops and operates drones for the distribution of medicine in developing countries. The company aims to be a last-mile logistics company for medicine delivery in areas where typical transportation modes are unavailable. Doctors can place on-demand orders from Zipline's distribution centers, which are then shipped via Zipline's electric drones. Zipline aims to delivery medical supplies within 30 minutes by parachute, so recipients don't have to interact with the drone.
Zipline was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Half Moon Bay, California. The company launched in Rwanda in October 2016 and Ghana in April 2019. The company claims to make 500 deliveries a day.
